Chapter 9
Trina sat in her car for a few minutes, not sure what to do with what Jason had just told her. What did this all mean? Tom Hudson was not her father? The thought of her father not being the man that did all this crazy stuff was a great thought, but he was still her motherâs husband and that would mean that Angela was his daughter, well, at least thatâs what they all thought. But the thought would be, âWho was her father and why did her mother let her grow up thinking this? Too many questions. The biggest question was whether to believe what Jason said or not. She decided to change her plan by going to visit her mom but calling the hospital to check in on Nad first. She couldnât rest without knowing how he was doing. She wished he had been with her today because he was always that protector she needed, and she feared never having that bond with him again if he doesnât get better.
The nurseâs station was still not giving much information to nonrelatives. They did tell her that they wouldnât know until later in the day. So, she headed over to her motherâs home for some answers.
When she pulled into her momâs driveway there was a different car in the driveway. She thought that since her mother let her drive her old car, she was going to be driving Tomâs car. Trina got out and knocked on the door. After waiting for her mother to answer she figured her mom might be on the back patio and couldnât hear her. She decided to use the spare key she had to the house and let herself in. The lights were on, so she knew that her mother was home.
âMom! Where are you? Itâs Trina and I need to talk to you.
Trina walked around the home, from room to room looking for her mother. When she didnât see her downstairs, she walked up the stairs to her momâs bedroom wondering why she wouldnât answer. She heard her mother in the room, so she tapped on the door.
âMom, what are you doing? I can hear you. Are you in here, open the door, Mom?â
Trina was tired of waiting so she opened the door and saw someone running to the bathroom.
âI told you I was coming Trina; you canât just walk into my room.â Mae was caught off guard.
âWhoâs that I just saw run in the bathroom Mom? You know it hasnât been that long since Dad went to jail...oh...never mind. Iâll go downstairs and wait for you to get yourself together. I need to talk to you, itâs important, so can you please hurry and come down?â
Trina ran out of the room and down the stairs. She could not believe what she had seen. Her so-called âgrieving motherâ had apparently moved on. She wondered who was this person that her mother was clearly, sexually involved with. Trina waited for her mom to come downstairs.
